Honey I Washed The Kids

Thursday, 4 December 2014

Left: Soft Coeur Massage bar | Right: Honey I Washed The Kids Soap

I'm starting to understand the whole Lush-hype thing that seems to be
going on on the internet. I have tried about 8 of their products and I'm sold. It does wonders to my skin, everything smells amazing and they try to make their products as natural as possible.

A few days ago, when I was supposed to be buying presents for others, I walked into Lush and treated myself with a gift card I got for my 18th birthday. Lesson one: never go into Lush with a headache and without an idea of what you're going to purchase. The smell in Lush is amazing, but when you're not feeling very well it's not a good idea to go inside and walk around like a crazy person searching for something you might like. In this condition, you are very likely drop a beautiful bath bomb on the floor...

After this not-so-great experience I left the store with two products: the soap Honey I Washed The Kids, Lush's worldwide best selling soap, and a heart-shaped massage bar called Soft Coeur. The names make my love the products even more!

The soap smells like sweet toffy and it makes your skin feel so soft! Now I've been using solid soaps for quite a while, I really prefer this to liquid shower gels. The massage bar, made with honey and cocoa was quite new territory for me. I've tried it out and again: amazing. You have to make it warm with your hands and you can 'massage' your body with it. The butters in it moisturise your skin and make it feel really soft. Love it! Can't wait to go back to Lush and try out some more of their stuff!

What are your Lush favourites?

Festive Bedroom

Wednesday, 3 December 2014

When Christmas is coming around the corner I love to make my room feel a little bit more festive. I have fairy lights in my room almost all year around, but this time of the year I go fairy light crazy! I hope you like the pictures and maybe get some inspiration from them!

November Favourites

November was over before I had even noticed it had begun. But a lot of good things have happened this month. I turned 18, I passed my first 3 exams and I had my first driving lesson!
I've also been using a lot of new beauty products this month. Here are my favourites!

Rimmel Vinyl Gloss in Starlet, 530
A beautiful light pink lipgloss with a lot of shimmer in it. I think this looks nice both at daytime and at night when you're having a party or something.

Marc Jacobs Daisy Eau So Fresh
I got this perfume from my parents for my birhday and I absolutely love it. I know it's not a typical winter scent, but I feel like it really suits me so then I think it's okay to wear it all year around (right?).

Rimmel Lasting Finish Lipstick in Cutting Edge, 120
This beautiful purple matt shade is perfect for the cold winter days. It's a bit dark but I feel like I can get away with it. I've been wearing this a lot this month and I will continue wearing it in December!

Sleek Blush by 3 in Lace, 367
This is my first ever Sleek product, because they were not selling it in the Netherlands until a few months ago. I really like the intensity of the colours. You only need to apply the tiniest little bit on your cheeks to get an amazing effect. I'm also a big fan of the huge mirror inside.

HEMA Spicy, Bright and Delightful bodylotion
A super moisturising body lotion that just smells like Christmas to me.

Maybelline Color show in Downtown Red, 352
I think I got this nailpolish as a present for my birthday one year ago, but I just never used it. This month I was feeling very festive already so I've only been wearing this nailpolish and the purple one next to it. It doesn't chip for about 4 days, so the quality is really good.

HEMA Long Lasting Nailpolish Matt in 824
I've been wearing this gorgeous purple colour non stop for the first two weeks of November. It's matt the first two days and then it gets kind of shiny but still beautiful.

Elizabeth Arden Radience Boosing Moisture Cream SPF 15
When I bought this cream in summer it totally didn´t work for my skin. It made my skin extremely shiny and it seemed like it didn't want to sink into my skin. Now my skin is a lot more dry and this really helps to moisturise it. I apply it before I go to bed and when I wake up my skin feels not dry at all.

Have you tried any of the products? Let me know!

Lovely Lush Products

Friday, 21 November 2014

Lately I've been in love with Lush. I don't have a bath, so I've never been able to try their bath bombs and bath melts, but Lush sells a lot of other products that can give you an amazing shower experience.
The three products you see on the picture are my absolute favourites at the moment. I use them every single day.

1. Let The Good Times Roll - face scrub/cleanser

This delicious face scrub probably is my favourite Lush product ever. I have to discover a very very great product to be able to exceed this one. The main ingredient is corn, and I think the best way you can describe the smell is like the most delicious sweet pop corn you've ever tasted. I often catch myself with the pot underneith my nose trying to inhale as much of the smell as possible. I even tried to eat some of it, but I do not recommend that to anyone...
Apart from the amazing smell, the scrub also does a lot for my skin. I often find scrubs way too hard and not doing anything good for my skin, but this scrub particles are very small and do not damage my face at all. I even use the scrub twice a day, and since I've been using it my skin has improved so much that I've rarely been wearing foundation lately. And another pro: you only need to use a tiny bit. A pea sized amount is enough to cleanse your entire face. I would definitely recommend this product to everyone!

Price: €9,90 per 100 grams

2. Magnificent - soap

At first I really had to get used to this soap's smell. It smells very strongly of mango. When I got used to it, I really started to love this soap. When you've been washing yourself with it in the morning, and you smell your hand or arm during the day, you smell the scent of your lovely shower and you feel totally fresh again.
For me this was the first time I've used a block of soap in the shower instead of a liquid shower gel. I really did enjoy it and I can't wait to try out more of their soap blocks! Because the soap reacts with water very quickly, the soap doens't last very long. I've been using it for two weeks now and there's not much left of it (when I took this picture I'd already been using it for a couple of times).
I would really recommend this soap to everyone who loves mangos and a very fresh shower (and who doesn't?!).

Price: €6,85 per 100 grams

3. Happy Hippy - shower gel

This is a shower gel, but you can also use it to wash your hair with. That's mostly where I've been using it for. This gel contains fresh grape juice, what gives it a very fresh scent. A very nice shower gel/shampoo!

Price: €6,60 per 100 grams

The prices are according to the Dutch Lush website,  https://www.lush.nl/

What are your favourite Lush products? Do you have any (non-bath related) Lush recommendations? I'd love to try some more products but there's so much to choose from!

My current makeup favourites

Wednesday, 15 October 2014

Since it is Autumn (I didn't want to use the word in this blogpost title because I've already used it in my last three titles...  Clearly I like to talk about Autumn) I changed a bit in my makeup routine. The products you see above are my absolute favourites at the moment. I use them almost every day. '

1. Max Factor Masterpiece Waterproof Mascara
A perfect mascara if you don't want a huge long lash effect. On most days I want to go for natural lashes, but I do want to accentuate them since my lashes naturally are very light. This brown/black light mascara is perfect to get this natural effect.

2. Rimmel Stay Matte Powder
I use this powder every day just to set my foundation and/or concealer. It does the job perfectly. Nothing special, just a great powder.

3. Rimmel Lasting Finish Lipstick 058
I talked about this lipstick back in August in this blogpost. I still love it and wear it a lot.

4. Estee Lauder Blush & Bronzer Palette
I really have no idea how old this palette is. I know my mom got it in a big red Estee Lauder bag with all kinds of make-up in it a few years ago. She never used it, so I stole it and now it's mine, I guess. I actually really like this. It's so easy to have your blush and bronzer all together in one palette. I really like the colours too.

5. Zoeva Naturally Yours Palette
This palette is not that old, I actually got it at the end of August. I use this palette so much! The light brown one, soft & sexy, I use to fill in my eyebrows. For eyeshadow, I eather use smooth harmony just all over the lid, or casual elegance with sweet sound in the crease. If I want to go all natural but my eyes look very tired, I put a little bit of the colour pure on my eyelids.

I found a picture of this palette from when it wasn't completely dirty!

What are your favourite make-up items this Autumn?

Autumn/Winter Primark Haul 2014

Thursday, 9 October 2014

In the past few weeks I've been watching a lot Autumn/Winter Hauls. Not only from 2014, no, also from 2013 and probably even older. There were a few hauls that really made me want to bring a visit to Primark. So that's what I did today!
I never really enjoy the Primark store on itself, because the one closest to where I live to is always really crowded and everything's a huge mess. But when I come home and look at everything I've gotten..... I have my little happy moment and I know it's all been worth the effort.
I really liked the things they had this time. There was a lot of christmas stuff already, so I couldn't keep myself from getting a little bit into the Christmas mood. Most things I bought are for always gonna stay inside my house keeping me warm and snug in the upcoming months.

Do you feel the exitement?!

Left: Black & white reversible scarf. €7
I just love huge chunky scarfs. I'll never have enough of them. This one is really soft, it almost feels like fleece. Great for the colder months.
Right: Loggers blouse. €14
I'm not too sure about whether I like this blouse or not. I love it when I see pictures of girls wearing one on tumblr, but I don't know if it works for me too. It's from the men section and you have to buy it with a tee shirt (which I immidiately donated to my little brother). It's really oversized and I'm gonna do my very best to make it work. It is super soft and warm and probably a real flannel, so we'll see.

Right: White crepe shirt. €11
Collars are quite a new territory for me. I'm very exited to layer this with big sweaters or cardigans.

Now we're getting to my favourite part: pyjamas! I know for sure I own more pyjama trousers than normal trousers and I'm not even ashamed of that :).

Left: Festive pyjama bottoms. €7
Right: Pyjama bottoms with super cute rabbits. €7
Middle: Winter warmers. €3
These socks are amazing! They really feel like a hug for your feet. Highly recommend this socks if you're a very cold-feeted person like me.

Super cosy leggings with fleecy lining. €4
I've never actually tried leggings or panties from Primark. Because Zoe from Zoella always talks about the Super Cosy thights and how amazing they are, I decided I wanted to try a pair of them. Unfortunately they didn't have a pair of panties, so I had to take leggings.

Two pairs of gloves. €2
This is an essential to me. My hands literally turn blue with orange dots when I'm outside in the cold (no idea why), so I really need gloves. I love how Primark understands that you need at least two pairs, because one pair is always lost when you need it.

Christmas candles. €2,50
Because you can never get ready for Christmas early enough! This candles smell de-li-cious. I'm now gonna try not to light them again until the end of November.

Purple crepe shirt. €11
Same as the white one, but in purple.

Earrings. €2
I almost never wear earrings, but when I do I wear the smallest possible. I really like this gold/pink combination.

Do you go to Primark often? Which item I got is your favourite?

Books to read this Autumn/Winter

Wednesday, 24 September 2014

“A reader lives a thousand lives before he dies, said Jojen. The man who never reads lives only one.”

― George R.R. Martin, A Dance with Dragons

I've always been a huge fan of reading. I remember from when I was really young I stayed up reading all night and only turned off the lights when my parents came upstairs to go to bed. In high school I had to read a lot of  required literature, which I didn't enjoy at all. I prefer to read books that are easy to follow and that make it easy to dream away over books where you have to keep paying attention all the time because you otherwise won't have a clue where the book is about. Therefore I've hardly been reading in the past six years.
Not too long ago I was at a bookstore in Amsterdam and I immidiately felt an urge to buy every book in the store and to lock myself in my room for a couple of months to read all of them.
Luckily I didn't do that, but I searched a lot on the internet for books I really wanted to read. I orderded six and I can't wait to read this books in the upcoming months. Delightful with a nice cup of tea, coffee or hot chocolate underneath a blanket, in a little cafe or on the train.

Looking For Alaska | John Green

I've got some big expectations of this book, since The Fault in Our Stars was one of the most touching books I've ever read. I really like John Green's writing style, and I hope this book will carry me away just as much as TFIOS did.

IT | Alexa Chung

I really have no idea whether I'm going to like this book or not. By all means I love to scroll through the pages, because they are filled with photographs and drawings. It almost looks like a paper version of tumblr (and I'm a real tumblraholic). I've seen this book pass by a lot on the internet, so I decided it was worth it to give it a go.

The Perks of Being a Wallflower | Stephen Chbosky

I remember seeing this film a few years ago, but I can't exactly remember how it ended. The only thing I remember is that I had to cry and that I recognized myself a bit in the main character. Hopefully the book will still suprise me, despite I've already seen the film (I should've read the book first like a good kid...).

To Kill a Mockingbird | Harper Lee

This book was first published in 1960. I've never read it before, but when I saw this new edition I decided I really wanted to read it (maybe I kind of judged the book by its cover, but in a good way ;)).

It's Kind of a Funny Story | Ned Vizzini

I had never heard of this book before, but when I read a short summary I immidiately knew I would like this. I find books about mental disorders quite interesting to read, because I really want to understand what people suffering from one are feeling like (I guess that's the psychologist in me).

If I Stay | Gayle Forman

The film based upon this novel is in theatres right now, but this time I did want to read the book first! I knowingly haven't even watched the trailer and I don't even now who are playing in the film, because I wanted to visualize the characters in my head. I'm very exited to read this one!

Have you read any of this books? And are there some other books that you can recommend me?
